smartphonesshop.com.au - While we’ve been focused quite a bit on Apple lately and are gearing up for WWDC21 next week, on the other side of the Galaxy we have Samsung getting ready to show the industry once again who is in charge with their devices that are already looking to rock our 2021. As much as the Galaxy S21 amazed everybody with its gorgeous design, beefy specs and innovative features, Samsung’s quest to dominate the palm of your hand is a never ending venture, which if these leaks and renders below (courtesy of Ben Geskin, Gizmochina plus Pocket-lint) are anything to go by make us seriously excited for what Samsung has in store for us this year. Let’s explore this galaxy of leaks and see what awaits us!
Episode 22: The Galaxy Strikes Back
While we just got our hands on the Galaxy S21 not too long ago, it’s no secret or surprise that Samsung is already hard at work making the sequel to this beloved device. Being the powerhouse that the S Series is, it’s perfect for intensive gaming and applications, although even the most overpowered smartphone still can have issues with heat as there isn’t any cooling mechanism. This looks to be a thing of the past as the Galaxy S22 is rumoured to include cooling fans much like high-end computers! BGR have reported that Samsung has filed trademarks for “Activate Fan Mode” which would be included in tablets and smartphones. With more gaming phones including fans beginning to appear as reported by BGR, it’s no surprise seeing Samsung potentially include this in its next flagship release and would do wonders in preventing our devices from feeling like hot coal after extended use. Another reason those purported fans will come in handy is because as reported by TechRadar, Samsung has officially stated that we’ll see AMD Graphics and ray tracing in the next iteration of its Exynos chip due to a partnership with AMD! For the uninformed, you can expect realistic lighting and reflections from ray tracing in your games while being blown away with AMD’s realistic graphics technology!
The leaks for the Galaxy S22 don’t just end there, as Samsung wants to further improve on the camera powerhouse that is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. According to Sammobile and prominent leaker Ice Universe we can expect to see a better periscope camera alongside continuous zoom. This should give the lenses free movement in capturing images when zoomed, producing images that truly capture details at a distance, unlike what is currently available today. There’s also an under-display selfie camera, which would result in a display with absolutely no cutouts or bezels, because nothing should get in the way of a beautiful display!
Fan Service
Sammobile have reported that according to Samsung, we’ll see Fan Editions of every flagship release and the S21 looks to be receiving the Fan treatment with the S21 Fan Edition recently leaked, courtesy of Geekbench and Tom’s Guide. The S21 FE will include a Snapdragon 888 processor and 6GB of RAM, perfect for those that want the S21 experience without the flagship price that normally comes with it. Looking at the render from OnLeaks alongside more leaks from Tom’s Guide, we can expect the S21 FE to look very similar to the Galaxy S21. If speculation from leaker Ross Young turns out to be correct, we can expect the Galaxy S21 FE to begin production in July and a release date sometime in August or September. While information is still scarce, watch this space for any more leaks!
Flipped Off
If you thought the Galaxy Z Flip was a flipping good experience like us, you’ll be flipped to know that the sequel will be releasing soon! Word is though, it may be called the Z Flip 2 or potentially the Z Flip 3, according to Tech Advisor in order for it to be on the same tier as the Galaxy Fold3. PhoneArena also has some juicy info to share, stating that we may see the same 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display from the Z Flip, alongside Ice Universe saying that it will include smaller bezels. PhoneArena have also provided leaked images of the device from a promo video and we must say, the wait is going to be flipping hard!
Fold & Call
It seems like foldable phones are certainly going to be a part of the future rather than a fad, with even Apple looking to get into the foldable game! If leaks are to be believed, we’ll be seeing the Galaxy Z Fold3 soon enough, and there’s some rather interesting information floating (or folding) around for this unique device. According to Pocket-lint, we may see a hinge that lights up, thanks to a patent found by LetsGoDigital which should be handy for notifications and incoming calls. The ever reliable Tom’s Guide and our favourite Samsung leaker Ice Universe have also weighed in, stating that the Galaxy Z Fold3 should be lighter than previous releases, although it may come at the cost of battery life due to the inclusion of a slightly smaller battery. Tom’s Guide has stated that due to screenshots taken from a Samsung marketing video by Twitter user @TheGalox_, an under-screen camera and even S Pen support is confirmed for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. We do hope that it isn't confirmation that we won’t get a Galaxy Note21...
Nothing Noted Down
The inclusion of the S Pen for the Galaxy S21 stirred a lot of trouble in the devoted fan base of the Galaxy Note Series. While rumours seem to both confirm and dispel rumours for the famous phablet, the rumour mill is running crazy once again with a leaked image courtesy of Notebookcheck and @TEQHNIKACROSS from a Samsung retail store where the Note21 and Note21 Ultra product names were engraved in Google artwork adorning the store! Although to destroy the hopes and dreams of Note fans, @TEQHNIKACROSS posted another image where the engravings were removed. Whether this means the Note Series is truly done for, or a confirmation that the engraving was an accidental leak, only time will tell whether the Note Series will continue to dominate our hands and pockets.
Say Hello To My Little Friend
In perhaps one of the most interesting Samsung leaks so far thanks to Screen Rant, Samsung is looking to replace Bixby with a new assistant! Leaked images of a new assistant aptly called Sam have graced the internet, with a plethora of memes already being created for this new character. The debate is out on the authenticity of this, but according to Screen Rant Twitter user SinisterShot has shared a cached version of a deleted web page from a company called Lightfarm Studios, that imply the images were made in tandem with a marketing agency that’s owned by Samsung. Whether Sam turns out to be official or cancelled, it seems that Bixby’s days are numbered.
With Apple getting ready for WWDC 2021, it seems that Samsung is silently waiting to show everybody what a smartphone should be. As the old cliched saying goes, only time will tell for what Samsung’s plans will be,but for all the Samsung leaks as they come, keep an eye on our Smart Blogs!
