While we’ve been focused on the Galaxy S22 Series, Apple have decided to steal the show for themselves at the beginning of the year! At their “Peek Performance” event, they’ve finally decided to reveal one of their worst kept secrets, the iPhone SE 2022 alongside a new iPad Air, Apple Studio Display, and even Mac Studio! Check out a recap from The Verge below:
Special Delivery
In what looks to be 2022’s biggest surprise, the long-awaited follow up to the iPhone SE 2020 has finally been showcased. This year’s iPhone SE will include 5G, a similar design to the previous iPhone SE, and in what looks to be it’s greatest feature the A15 Bionic Chip! For the uninitiated, the A15 Bionic Chip is what powers the iPhone 13 so you can expect similar power under the hood. It’s a real redefinition of the mid-range device with we’re seeing here, in what looks to be the cheapest way to get an iPhone 13 without actually owning one!
Apart from taking cues from the iPhone 13, the iPhone SE 2022 is an improvement in every way over its predecessor. With the inclusion of 5G you’ve basically got a mid-range iPhone that feels like a flagship. Also, the battery life has seen a significant improvement as well, with Apple stating that with a 20W or higher adapter, you’ll be able to fast charge the iPhone SE 2022 from zero to up to 50 per cent charge in 30 minutes! They’ve also reported that in comparison to the previous iPhone SE you’ll see 1.2x faster graphics performance and the return of the home button! For those of you worried about its durability, according to Apple you can expect the “toughest glass in a smartphone” combined with resistance to spills, dust and drops. With a nostalgic design, Touch ID and today’s power, the iPhone SE 2022 is a winner on every front.
AirDropping In
The iPhone SE 2022 isn’t the only reveal Apple has up its sleeve, with the brand spanking new iPad Air 5 set to grace our shores soon! According to Tom’s Guide, the iPad Air 5 will include the M1 Chip for incredible performance, 5G capabilities so you can blast past fast, alongside compatibility with the Magic Keyboard. You can also expect 64/256GB variants, quicker charging via USB-C alongside a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera at the front, allowing you to get the most out of your video calls. As Tom’s Guide has stated, what truly makes the M1 Chip stand out is that it allows the iPad Air 5 to be 60% faster than the iPad Air 4. When taken into consideration just how amazing the iPad Air 4 was, to put it simply this is going to be mind-blowingly quick!
Return of The Mac
iPhone & iPad users aren’t the only ones getting all the love, as Apple has revealed the Mac Studio! According to Apple, it’s an all-new Mac Desktop that packs serious power in a stunning and compact package. The Verge have done a fantastic job summarising why the Mac Studio is an extremely enticing offer for today’s professionals. With the Mac Studio you’ll have a choice between variants with the M1 Max or M1 Ultra chip. Its design is simple yet effective, with a 3.7-inch chassis while also including a 10Gb ethernet port, Wi-Fi 6, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports plus even an audio jack. While the M1 Max version will certainly provide unprecedented power, the M1 Ultra chip actually offers double the performance! The M1 Max chip will include a 10‑core CPU, Up to 32‑core GPU, Up to 64GB unified memory plus 400GB/s memory bandwidth, while the M1 Ultra bundles a 20‑core CPU, up to 64‑core GPU, up to 128GB unified memory alongside 800GB/s memory bandwidth. How’s that looking for power?
Plenty to Display
Now if the Mac Studio has caught your eye, you’re probably thinking about which display will go well with it. Apple has surprisingly provided an answer for that with their Apple Studio Display. Apple’s screens have always been a feast for the eyes, and their new Studio Display is a fabulous display of beauty (pun intended). According to Gizmodo, it will measure at 27 inches and include support for 5K resolution alongside 1 billion colours. There’s also a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera plus 3 USB-C ports, and a three microphone array all powered by the A13 Bionic Chip. With a resolution that can rival some of the best-selling monitors today, Apple is truly at the top of the game when it comes to delivering an eye-poppingly gorgeous display.
With Apple once again redefining the mid-range smartphone plus revealing a whole lot of other goodies, there’s never been a better time to be an Apple fan.
