smartphonesshop.com.au - While we’ve been occupied with the flashy iPhone 12 for a while now, Samsung has been quietly planning to set the world on fire again with its new flagship range. There’s been quite a bit of secrecy surrounding the Galaxy S21 range, but now we’ve finally had our first look at them and we have to say that we’re quite impressed, to say the least. Should Apple be worried? We’ll let you decide. Either way, read on and see how Samsung plans to reclaim the smartphone throne once again.
Super Plus Ultra Edition
Our confirmation that Samsung’s new flagship range will indeed be called the S21 rather than the S30 comes from a leaked official teaser video shared by GSMArena, which also reveals that the S21 range will come in the same variants as its predecessor, offering both Plus and Ultra versions. We have to admit, the designs certainly look mesmerizing, with a violet and gold finish alongside a futuristic design that once again shows that nobody makes a smartphone like Samsung. The teaser video also shows according to GSMArena that we’ll get three rear cameras without Periscope zoom. Prominent leaker Ice Universe has stated that for the S21 Ultra camera, we can expect a 12MP Ultra Wide lens and a 108MP wide lens with a Telephoto lens that zooms up to three times. In terms of materials, it seems that the S21 and S21 Plus will have a back made out of plastic, whereas the beastly S21 Ultra will include one made from glass. In other words, the Galaxy S21 will feel and look amazing, much to the chagrin of die-hard Apple fans.
Leaks, Leaks Everywhere
The leaks don’t just end there. Apart from Samsung's "official" confirmation, we’ve got our first look at a hands-on for Samsung’s flagships thanks to a YouTuber called Random Stuff 2. Unlike the YouTuber's name, The contents of the video are anything but random, being the closest we’ll get to an S21 for now, as it shows the S21+ 5G being benchmarked and even used in public nevertheless! Early benchmarks show results close to the S20, but we’ll reserve our full judgement until retail units are released into the wild. GSMArena reports that the user was quite fond of the slim bezels and was impressed with the battery life. The video also shows off the device’s sleek design, and the display looks absolutely stunning. We can only imagine how much we’ll be blown away when we finally get our hands on it!
While we’re yet to see an official confirmation of the specs, that hasn’t stopped reports and speculation giving us an idea of what to expect with this beastly line up from Samsung. Pocket-lint reports that we can expect a release date around January. They also believe that the S21 and S21+ will include a buttery-smooth 120Hz screen with 1400 nits peak brightness for a truly vivid display. Pocket-lint also claims we’ll see a resolution downgrade for both models to Full-HD+ alongside a 4800mAh battery for the S21+ and a 4000mAh battery for the S21.
The End is Note
If you love the Galaxy Note series like us, you’re in for some bad news. Leaks and rumours have suggested that Samsung plans to discontinue the Note range while opting to introduce support for the S-Pen in its S21 range according to Tom’s Guide. Tom’s Guide has also reported that the S21 Ultra is confirmed to support the S-Pen according to leaks with even retailers offering accessories for the S21 Ultra that supposedly complement the S-Pen. They’ve also reported that the S21 series will include Snapdragon’s new 888 chip, although we do hope we’ll see similar performance from the versions for specific regions that will inevitably receive an Exynos chip.
Free of Charge
With Apple’s decision to not include a charger with its iPhone 12, Samsung took this as an opportunity to take a little dig at its rival, but it seems that once again, they'll be following Apple’s example! Techradar has reported that it’s very probable that the S21 won’t come with a charger, citing the clearance from the National Telecommunications Agency in Brazil that states the S21 variants will be sold in Brazil without a charger or earphones, alongside mentioning that there will be two different 25W adapters. We all remember Samsung’s dig at Apple after they revealed the iPhone 7 wouldn’t have a headphone jack, only for them to curiously remove it in the S20 series. We sure do occasionally miss the headphone jack though.
With all these rumours and reports, we can definitely confirm that the Galaxy S21 series will literally blow us away and remind us why Samsung is a force to be reckoned with. The impressive design and innovation of the Galaxy S20 series made it one of the most exciting releases in recent memory and it looks to be repeated with the Galaxy S21 release.
