smartphonesshop.com.au - While we’ve been spoiled by the 13th iteration of Apple’s flagship, as we move closer into the new year Samsung is looking to reclaim the flagship throne through its signature Galaxy S Series. With the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G showing the futuristic ambitions of the smartphone giant, there’s no doubt the Galaxy S22 will impress but in comparison to the fantastic releases from Samsung this year, it will be interesting to see how it fares. Now that the official poster for the Galaxy S22 has leaked alongside more images, let’s take a look at the new Galaxy we’ll be stepping into next year.
In A Galaxy Not Too Far Away
A Galaxy Not Too Far Away
Courtesy of leaker Ben Geskin and LetsGoDigital, we’ve gotten our first look at the leaked official poster for the Galaxy S22 Series. The poster reportedly shows the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Plus, with the S22 Ultra design harking back to the Note Series while sporting a Rose Gold/Bronze colour not too different from the Note20 Ultra. The Galaxy S22 Plus is looking to house a design more in line with the S21 Series which is certainly not a bad thing considering just how mesmerizing the current flagship range looks. There’s also S-Pen functionality for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which means that the Note Series is pretty much dead at this moment, pending an official casualty report from Samsung.
According to Tom’s Guide and leaker Ross Young, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will release in black, green, pink gold and white colours. As for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, expect to see it in black, green, white and bronze/rose gold as shown in the leaked official artwork. In terms of screen size, leaked images of screen protectors for the Galaxy S22 Series from Tom’s Guide show the standard S22 and Plus variant sporting displays which are approximately 6 and 6.55-inches. Expect a gargantuan 6.8-inch display for the Galaxy Note… we meant S22 Ultra.
Note On the Horizon
With absolutely no information on the next device in the Note Series or any confirmation that the line will live on, we can safely assume that the Note's DNA has now been integrated into the Ultra variants of the Galaxy S range alongside the Z Series as well. It truly is a shame seeing such an iconic line be discontinued, but we can take comfort in the fact that its legacy will live on in more innovative ways. The Z Series is pretty much looking to be the future of smartphones at this point and it’ll be nice not having to wait further into the year for a device that has S-Pen functionality, but as much as we’d like to be proven wrong, let’s pour one out for the Galaxy Note Series and remember all the great times we had. Goodbye Galaxy Note, you’ll definitely be missed.
In terms of specs, we can expect evolution rather than a revolution in the Galaxy S22 Series. According to Tom’s Guide, we’ll be seeing a 108MP camera in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which will reportedly include a Detail Enhancement mode. They've cited prolific leaker Ice Universe’s input on the new feature in which they describe it as an “AI picture quality enhancement mode” in which they claim to have seen in action. Supposedly we can expect the already monstrous 108MP camera to provide even more clarity and detail than ever before but how this will actually look and work remains to be seen.
Dummy devices of the Galaxy S22 Series have also been released into the wild, with GSMArena showing off what we’ll be upgrading to next year. In terms of the design, there’s a lot to love here, with a more refined and stylish camera design for the S22 and S22 Plus. As previously mentioned, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is pretty much looking to continue the legacy of the Note Series, including a compartment for the S-Pen alongside a more “phablet” build. To put it bluntly, expect better-looking versions of the Galaxy S21 alongside the Note Series sequel we’ve been waiting for.
Also, there’s no way we could write a blog about leaks without mentioning the legendary Jon Prosser. Courtesy of them and FrontPageTech, they’ve gotten their hands on images of a working Galaxy S22 Ultra! 2022 can’t come fast enough…
If the Galaxy S22 leaks indicate anything, it’s that 2022 is looking to be much kinder to us after all! Apart from the familiar design of the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, we’re both overjoyed and teary to see that the Note Series will live on in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. According to Jon Prosser, we can expect to see the Galaxy S22 Series in February next year but for more Galaxy leaks as they come, keep a watchful eye on our Smart Blogs!
